How many times a day do you hear a pun, not nearly enough right? Puns are nearly one of the best things and according to some of my friends, they can be the worst things too, mainly because they didn't make it first though. There's nearly nothing better than a good pun, I mean who wouldn't be able to laugh at a good pun, they’re just so punny. If you ever want to read a good pun they have many sites to where you can read as many puns as you want. They even have a daily pun site, however, you can’t see who the author truly is because they only use first names of random members of the site.
Bad Puns
There are many bad puns made a day, no matter if it’s online or through text messaging. However, many of these bad puns can be pretty funny, at least I think so. Drank Vandy actually created a post of 31 of the worst puns ever, and I am not going to lie, some of these made me laugh. On this site they have everything from text conversations to pictures of animals making puns. Although it might be a bit punny, they also have some that might not be so safe with the innuendos that they have.
Appropriate Puns
You may not think that there is such a thing of appropriate puns, but if you make a play on words at the right time in the right place, you just might surprise yourself on how appropriate the pun actually is. An example of an appropriate pun could be when you are try to make a group of friends, coworkers, or even peers laugh and appreciate your presence. If you're wanting to step up your pun game, you can always see what some of the pest puns are. If you seem to be on the search for the perfect pun, I would recommend going tohttp://kickasshumor.com/funny-joke/4920/the-person-who-invented-the-door-knock-won-the-no- , they have many appropriate puns, which vary from the noble peace prize to cars.
Puns Over Time
Throughout time there has been a ton of different kinds of puns, and believe it or not they were just as fascinated by them as we are today. In Bill Bryson's book he discusses how some of the most famous writes used puns, even in the more serious parts of the story. An example of this is from his book The Mother Tongue, in chapter 15, when he says "Shakespeare so loved puns that he put 3,000 of them- that's right 3,000- into his plays, even to the extent of inserting them in the most seemingly inappropriate places, as when King Henry the 4th, part one, the father of Hotspur learns of his son's tragic death and remarks that Hotspur is now Coldspur."
As you see, puns are naturally a part of nearly everyone's everyday life, and the way I see things, I believe that puns will always be a part of everyday life rather it's being used in a serious or inappropriate manner. So remember the next time you hear a pun don't forget to laugh or smile and really do appreciate the nature of the pun.
